Understanding Quickbook Items

In QuickBooks, Items are the heart and soul of buying, selling, making and placing orders for goods and services for your business.

To illustrate how they are used to help you identify and count the cost of doing business, consider an illustration of what happens as you pass through the checkout counter at your local grocery store.

As you pass through the checkout counter at your local grocery store, the clerk totals everything you just purchased while shopping at the market.

All your purchase are listed in your receipt according to what you've just bought while shopping in the market place. Everything listed on the receipt is an “item." For more information on items and how to setup and use them click on the link below.

Types of Quick Book Items, Quickbooks uses this identification term to list and keep track of everything your grocer has sold to its customers during this visit to the marketplace. Of course you already know a few of the many reasons why your grocer would take the time to do this right?

Got it? Good, So, remember now, quickbooks gives this name and uses this term to list and keep track of everything the business has sold to its customers.

Take a close look at your receipt, look near the bottom of the receipt. What do you see there yet not placed in your grocery bag, for you to take home? Do you see it?

Its the taxes the grocer has charged to you, which he'll later forward to the state taxing authority. Yes, Quickbooks even uses "items" to make note of the taxes it has collected from customers.

There are several more uses given this name (items) and all are designed and used to identify the type of good(s) or service(s) the grocer has on hand for sale and will eventually pass on to the customer or patron of his business.
